The objective of Beekman Travel is to provide a high quality, competitive alternative to high-cost travel programs by reducing overhead and maintaining the program through dedicated volunteers who care about the long-term development and safety of the players. Our programs offer a challenging and demanding program to encourage growth and on-going improvement.

How do I determine age for eligibility?
Player eligibility is based on age as of May 1 of the current year for the Spring Program and May 1 of the following year for the Fall Program.
Can a player play for an age group older than he/she is eligible for?
Players are allowed to try-out for up to (2) age groups.
They can try-out for their age-appropriate group and for the age group 1 year older than their eligible age.
Once tryouts are completed, the Travel Committee will review all assessments. For players that tried out at multiple age groups, the committee will recommend to the Board where this player is to be placed best interest of the player, teams and league.
All decisions by the Board are final.
Which Travel Leagues will we play in?
Each manager the flexibility of customizing a schedule for their team and will be able to choose from several local leagues.
Tournaments make up a major component of the travel program with many outside the state
How are managers selected?
Anyone interested in managing a Travel team, can submit their interest to the league President
All applications will be reviewed and a manager will be selected for each age group by the nominating committee (President, Vice President, Baseball Director, and Director of Travel)
All travel managers must be BAC Board confirmed, hold all coaching certifications required of BAC, and have the character, values, attitude and organizational expertise to run a travel team including selection and support from coaches, parent management and player development
The manager and/or assistant coach must be a Beekman resident
How are teams comprised?
Though it is the manager's discretion, there are typically 12-13 players on a team.
Tryouts will be held typically in the early Fall and players will be assessed by the team manager and (2) other Travel team managers or representatives from the BAC Board
Players receive a rating (1 -5) in the following categories:
Catching
Throwing
Fielding
Hitting
Running
Pitching
Managers will have discretion of completing the roster for their team.
Parents can expect a communication from the manager of the team after tryouts
While we strive for all Beekman residents, teams must be comprised of at least 70% Arlington
What if a player can't participate in a tryout?
(2) Try-out dates will be scheduled for each age group to allow for schedule conflicts.
Can a player lose his place on the team?
A parent can decline having their child participate in a team at any time. Any fees collected will be forfeited.
Everyone is expected to follow the BAC Code of Conduct. Violations will follow the BAC Grievance Procedure and are subject to the same consequences
What are the Player Expectations?
Players are expected to demonstrate the maturity to be part of a competitive team, the respect in managers and coaches, the responsibility to fulfill your commitment to the team by being on time and attending every practice and game, and the discipline to play your best and continue to develop as a ball player. This is a TEAM game and your team is depending on you!
Accept your Manager’s decisions, including playing time, positions, and spot in the batting order. You will be competing with other players and will need to work hard to earn playing time.
Playing for the team is a commitment to your coaches and your teammates – it should be a priority for all players
What are the Parent Expectations?
Demonstrate appropriate behavior and sportsmanship so that your son and his teammates have positive character examples
Support the TEAM concept and reinforce the importance of hard work, responsibility and sportsmanship.
Get your child to practices and games on time. His attendance is expected, but if he will be late to or miss a practice or game, it is crucial that you communicate with your Manager as early as possible.
The Manager is in charge of the team, support him and accept his decisions.
Meet your financial obligation to the team as outlined by your Manager. If your child decides to leave the team, or is asked to leave the team due to violating this agreement, no refunds are guaranteed
Parents will be informed prior to player selection that a travel team does not guarantee a player’s position and play time
What are the Manager and Coach Expectations?
Demonstrate appropriate behavior and sportsmanship so players have positive character examples
Provide ample opportunities to your players to improve their skills in practices and games.
Follow the rules outlined above and hold players accountable to do the same.
Manage team budget and financial statements to share with the team and the BAC
Team managers will make it a priority to get all players who make the travel team an appropriate level of playing time as their skills and position afford – teams should not carry so many players where a limitation in play time would be the norm
Players should be selected not only on their skills but also on their ability to act responsibly, support their teammates, promote positive behavior and respect for the game of baseball, and have a long-term commitment to playing the game
Player development will require externally delivered training in many cases, including instruction, facility costs, and other physical fitness activities and team managers should plan this into their overall program, costs and communicate to the parents prior to final player selection
Team managers will make it a priority to develop players and constantly improve so the BAC travel program is looked upon as a “player-centric” organization and for the benefit of the players
When will games be played?
Typically tournaments and games are played on weekends; typically double headers on Saturday or Sunday
Is participation in BAC Recreation required for a BAC Travel Team?
No, while it is strongly encouraged to participate in the BAC recreation program
Once a player is selected for a team, parents will be required to register for the Travel program with the BAC if not participating in the BAC Recreation program.
What is the duration of the season?
Normal Travel season will run from January through October
Travel schedules will avoid any conflict with school ball programs
What is the cost for the Travel Program?
Team Registration Fees will cover league fees, insurance, and tryouts. Cost per player is $50 each season if the player is not playing BAC Recreation program. (Spring, Summer, Fall)
Additional costs for travel league fees, uniforms, baseballs, umpires, tournaments, etc. will be determined by the head coach.
How many games will be played each season?
Each manager will determine the exact schedule for their team each season. The goal should be to play 6 -12 games each travel season (Spring, Summer, Fall) through tournaments and league play

Tournament fees are collected based on manager’s discretion depending on the scheduling requirements
Parents are responsible for transportation, food, housing or other costs associated with travel play.
Will there be a Winter Program?
Each manager will be encouraged to attend a Winter Workout program to prepare for the Spring season
Any costs associated with facility use for a winter program will be collected separately
Do BAC Managers get paid?
No. All BAC Travel Managers are volunteers and do not get paid for their time and effort. This is one of the reasons that we are able to provide competitive fees. As a non-profit organization, we look only to cover our actual expenses.
How do I pay?
All costs including Winter programs, Tournaments, or other team expenses will be collected by the team manager and provided/shared with BAC Treasurer
The BAC Treasurer or Travel Director may request an audit of a Travel teams’ financial information at any time
Team managers will be fiscally responsible to collect funds and distribute payments to appropriate organizations, including suppliers and vendors to pay for expenses charged to the team
There will be a zero-tolerance policy and any financial impropriety on the part of the team manager, coaches, parents or team in general will result in immediate dismissal from the BAC TRAVEL PROGRAM and all BAC positions the individuals may hold
